
OUR HISTORY
Robert Sweeney, Owner and Director of Progressive Living inc. started providing in home care services for his neighbors in the early 90’s. Soon after Robert and his wife Leann were approached by a case manager about starting in-home foster care services. Robert and Leann then started providing services to four individuals in their family home in 1995. He and his family continue to care for those same individuals to this day. In 2001, Robert built the first of several group homes in Mankato and has been expanding the company ever since.

Nicole Schmidt
Owner/Director
Nicole is one of the owners of Progressive Living, Inc., a distinguished organization dedicated to delivering exceptional, person-centered services to individuals with developmental disabilities and mental illness. She has played a pivotal role in shaping the organization into a premier provider, recognized for excellence, integrity, and innovation.
With over 16 years of experience in the field—and more than a decade focused on the organization’s strategic growth—Nicole has been one of the driving forces behind Progressive Living’s success. Her leadership is guided by a holistic, systems-driven perspective, shaped by her Master’s degree in Ecology and a minor in Biology. This approach emphasizes thoughtful precision, sustainable practices, and a commitment to elevating standards of care.
Nicole continues to elevate industry standards, cultivating environments where quality, trust, and meaningful outcomes are expected and consistently achieved. Her vision ensures that Progressive Living not only meets the needs of the individuals served but also sets the standard in person-centered support and community impact.

Brittany Gruber
Human Resources Director
Brittany brings more than 12 years of experience in the disability services field, backed by a strong foundation in Human Services with a focus on Office Management, Human Resources, and Talent Acquisition. A high-achieving graduate, she earned her bachelor’s degree with Summa Cum Laude honors, reflecting both her dedication and commitment to excellence.
Driven by a passion for service, Brittany is devoted to making a meaningful difference in the communities she serves. She is especially committed to supporting individuals with disabilities and mental illness, working to break down barriers and create pathways for growth, independence, and inclusion.
At Progressive Living, Brittany plays a key role in fostering a culture of support, empowerment, and opportunity—for both the individuals served and the employees who carry out the mission every day. Her leadership is rooted in compassion, collaboration, and a deep belief in the potential of every person.

Megan Miland
Senior Human Resources Generalist
Megan grew up in a small town in Central Minnesota and relocated to Mankato in 2019 to attend Minnesota State University, Mankato. She joined Progressive Living, Inc. in 2021 as a Direct Support Staff, where she quickly developed a passion for supporting both individuals and team members.
In May 2023, Megan earned her degree in Human Resource Management and transitioned into a Human Resources role within the organization. She brings a strong understanding of both frontline support and organizational needs, allowing her to play a key role in building and strengthening the team.
Megan’s favorite part of her position is recruiting and connecting with the dedicated staff who make a difference in the lives of the individuals served each day. She is passionate about fostering a positive and supportive work environment where employees can thrive.
Outside of work, Megan enjoys reading a good book and watching documentaries.

Morgan Rockvam
Human Resources Assistant
Morgan was born and raised in the Mankato area and has been a dedicated member of the Progressive Living, Inc. team since 2012. Beginning her career in the Administrative Office, she has taken on a variety of roles over the years, gaining valuable experience and insight across the organization.
In 2023, Morgan transitioned into her current role as a Human Resources Assistant, where she plays an important part in supporting both staff and organizational growth. She enjoys being part of a field that allows her to witness the progress and development of the individuals served, while also connecting with new team members throughout the onboarding process. Morgan values building relationships and contributing to a positive, supportive work environment for employees and individuals alike.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, her two dogs and cat, and relaxing with a good book.

Yainelis Baldrich--`----
Designated Manager
Yainelis moved to the United States from Cuba at the age of 16 and has since built a strong and inspiring career in the healthcare field. Known by her coworkers for fostering a positive and supportive work environment, she brings both energy and compassion to everything she does.
With six years of healthcare experience prior to joining Progressive Living in 2020 as a Direct Support Staff, Yainelis quickly demonstrated her leadership abilities and was promoted to Designated Coordinator. In the summer of 2023, she advanced into the role of Designated Manager—an opportunity she enthusiastically accepted. Yainelis is deeply dedicated to the individuals she serves and is always seeking creative, person-centered ways to help them achieve their goals. Her passion for caregiving extends beyond the workplace; as a mother, she embodies the true spirit of a caretaker and is rarely ever “off the clock.”
Outside of work, Yainelis enjoys spending time with her family and being outdoors whenever she can.

Megan Theobald
Senior Program Development Coordinator
Megan grew up on a farm in Huntley, Minnesota, and moved to Mankato in 2007 after graduating from Blue Earth Area High School. She has been a dedicated member of the Progressive Living team for over a decade, bringing both experience and a deep commitment to person-centered care.
Megan began her career with Progressive Living in 2010 as a Direct Support Staff, working closely with individuals to provide meaningful, person-centered supports. In 2014, she was promoted to House Manager, where she oversaw the daily operations of one of the organization’s homes. Her leadership and dedication led to another advancement in 2017, when she transitioned into the role of Designated Coordinator.
In this role, Megan has supported multiple homes, ensuring that the needs of individuals are met while maintaining compliance with 245D standards. Today, her responsibilities include attending support team meetings, coordinating services, and advocating for the wants and needs of the individuals served. She has also completed additional training in person-centered planning and is passionate about delivering high-quality, individualized care.
Outside of work, Megan enjoys spending time with her family, kayaking, camping, traveling, and attending live music events.

Chad Davey
Program Development Coordinator/Designated Coordinator
Chad grew up in the Mankato area and attended Bethany Lutheran College, where he earned an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts. He began his career in the healthcare field in 2005 as a Direct Support Professional, quickly developing a passion for supporting individuals and building meaningful connections.
Eager to grow in the field, Chad consistently sought out additional hours and learning opportunities, including participating in work groups and attending conferences to expand his knowledge and experience. In 2007, he was promoted to a House Manager role, where he demonstrated strong leadership and a deep commitment to the individuals and teams he supported.
In 2023, Chad joined Progressive Living as a Designated Coordinator. In this role, he is dedicated to incorporating progressive, person-centered goals into the services he helps coordinate, ensuring each individual receives thoughtful, individualized support.
Outside of work, Chad enjoys a variety of hobbies and values spending as much time as possible with his family.

Britney Clark
Senior Administrative Coordinator
Britney moved to Mankato in 2015 from the Minneapolis area and began her career with Progressive Living in the summer of 2016 as a Direct Support Staff. Through her dedication and strong work ethic, she quickly advanced within the organization. In the spring of 2017, Britney was promoted to ILS/SLS Manager. She has since taken on a variety of additional responsibilities, including serving as on-call staff, working as a live-in staff member, and overseeing scheduling for the organization. Her versatility and commitment have made her an invaluable part of the team. Britney takes great pride in going above and beyond to support both her colleagues and the individuals served by Progressive Living. She is passionate about helping others succeed and contributing to a positive, supportive environment.
Outside of work, Britney enjoys reading, spending time with friends, and being with her family as much as possible.

Cory Raddatz
Designated Coordinator
Cory grew up in Mankato, Minnesota, and began his career with Progressive Living, Inc. in 2017 as a Direct Support Staff. Through hard work and dedication, he quickly advanced within the organization, first stepping into a House Manager role where he supported individuals with more complex needs. Shortly after, he was promoted to Designated Coordinator. Cory is passionate about working with individuals who present unique challenges and takes pride in finding creative, person-centered pathways that help them lead successful and fulfilling lives. His commitment to growth and individualized support makes him a valuable member of the team.
Outside of work, Cory enjoys staying physically active, collecting artwork, and practicing his role as an ordained minister.

EJ" Haymore
Designated Coordinator
EJ grew up in Chicago, Illinois, and moved to Minnesota at the age of 17. He began his career in the field as a Direct Support Professional with Progressive Living in 2016. After gaining valuable experience, EJ spent several years in Duluth managing individuals and developing his leadership skills. In 2023, EJ returned to Mankato and joined Progressive Living, Inc. as a Designated Coordinator. He is passionate about supporting individuals in achieving their goals and fostering environments where they can thrive.
Outside of work, EJ enjoys spending time with his children and family, playing basketball, and exploring new places to eat.

Bee Thao
Designated Coordinator
Bee grew up in Sacramento, California, and moved to Mankato in 2018. He earned a degree in Communication with a minor in Health Science from Minnesota State University, Mankato, graduating with honors. During college, Bee gained valuable teaching and mentoring experience, including teaching literature to 6th and 7th graders through a summer internship and mentoring ESL students in high school.
Bee began his professional career in the field as a Direct Support Professional in 2019. Through dedication and hard work, he quickly advanced from Team Lead to Home Manager, and eventually to a director-level role. By the end of 2023, Bee joined Progressive Living, Inc. as a Designated Coordinator. He is passionate about collaborating with his team to enhance support for the individuals served and contribute positively to the Mankato community.
Outside of work, Bee enjoys hiking, reading, catching up on the latest shows and movies, and exploring diverse cultural cuisines.

Amal Ali
Designated Coordinator
Amal holds a degree in Health Science/Medical Administrative Assistance and has seven years of experience in the healthcare field. She joined the Progressive Living team in March 2022 as a House Manager, quickly demonstrating dedication and leadership in her role. In November 2024, Amal was promoted to Designated Coordinator, where she continues to make a meaningful impact on the individuals served. Amal is passionate about her work and takes pride in supporting the individuals Progressive Living serves, helping them achieve their goals and thrive.
Outside of work, Amal enjoys spending time with her 8-year-old daughter and her cat, Naila.

Jennifer Martinez----- Ortiz
Designated Coordinator
Jennifer grew up in Waseca, Minnesota, and joined Progressive Living in November 2024 as a Direct Support Staff member. With eight years of prior experience in healthcare, she quickly became a valued member of the team. In May 2025, Jennifer was promoted to House Manager, and in December 2025, she relocated to Mankato, Minnesota, to serve as a live-in staff member. She begins 2026 in her current role as a Designated Coordinator, where she continues to support individuals and promote person-centered care.
Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys playing bingo and spending quality time with her three-year-old daughter.

JC Bertino
Designated Coordinator
JC grew up in Mankato, Minnesota, and began his career with Progressive Living, Inc. in 2016 as a Direct Support Staff member. Through dedication and hard work, he advanced to roles including Shift Lead, House Manager, and ultimately Trainer. JC is passionate about supporting the individuals Progressive Living serves and takes pride in helping them achieve their goals and live fulfilling lives.
Outside of work, JC enjoys spending time with his son, family, and dog, as well as working around his home and on vehicles.
